Benon, 10 years old
Benon’s mother was a prostitute who died from AIDS and left him with his two sisters, Faith and Mercy. For a while, they stayed with one of his mother’s friends who was also a prostitute, but she left them because she was afraid of the responsibility. Benon had no other choice but to take his sisters, who were then four and six years old, to the streets. They had no relatives to look after them, so they joined other street kids.
Benon used to entertain people and sing for them to give them food. They were almost dead from hunger when a woman from the church brought them to the Home of Hope.
Benon is doing well. He is full of life and is still singing and dancing.
He would like to finish school and be able to look after his sisters.
